Open source solutions provider Red Hat collaborates with Samsung to offer 5G network solutions developed on Red Hat OpenShift. This Enterprise Kubernetes platform and Red hat enterprise‘s collaboration with Samsung will help service providers make 5G a reality across use cases, which includes 5G core, IoT, edge computing, machine learning, and more.

As per an analyst paper from ACG Research, open horizontals can minimize total cost ownership (TCO) by 30% as compared to siloed vertically integrated deployments of virtualized radio access networks (vRANs). By picking this horizontal approach, clients have access to more options and better service.

By the Red Hat and Samsung’s collaboration, Red Hat’s hybrid cloud portfolio will be used. The portfolio includes the Red Hat Open Stack Platform and Red Hat Open Shift Container Storage, Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform. Additionally, the collaboration will also use Samsung’s 5G vRAN, vCore, MEC and management and analytics. It is deemed to help service providers expand 5G-based use cases, like edge computing that can positively impact the client experience.

Chris Wright, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Red Hat stated,

While service providers develop 5G networks, they are building the base for the next wave of cross-industry innovation.

From lending a helping hand to business in their edge computing solutions to guaranteeing enterprises can favorably expand their artificial intelligence and machine learning applications, we anticipate these services to be developed on a proven, cloud-native infrastructure. We’re very delighted to work with Samsung to bring this Kubernetes-driven solution to help service providers and their clients concentrate on complex and competitive use cases over the enterprise to every industry.

Additionally, Mr. Won Il Roh, Senior Vice President and Head of Product Strategy, Networks Business, Samsung Electronics stated,

We are happy to collaborate with Red Hat to help service providers remain competitive in this growing demands of the global 5G market, particularly on the cloud-native front.
