Virginia successfully competed with Delaware and Maryland for the project, which will create 25 new jobs. Companies like TES help strengthen the Commonwealth’s reputation as one of the nation’s largest tech hubs for companies of all sizes,” said Gov. Ralph Northam. “Much of Virginia’s job growth in the coming years is projected to be in information technology, and by locating in Spotsylvania County, TES is ensuring that these opportunities reach every corner of our Commonwealth.” TES is a global leader in providing IT lifecycle services, focused on helping customers manage the commissioning, deployment, and retirement of information technology assets. The company annually processes millions of devices across 38 locations in 22 countries and serves some of the largest brands, including original equipment manufacturers, multi-national companies, and channel partners. The new Spotsylvania County facility will offer IT services including data destruction, data center decommissioning, refurbishment, and recycling.

Harvest Partners Announces Acquisition of Service Express: Harvest Partners has announced today that funds managed by Harvest have completed the acquisition of Service Express from Pamlico Capital. Service Express, headquartered in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is a leading provider of post-warranty data center equipment maintenance services. The Company’s management team, led by CEO Ron Alvesteffer, will continue to lead Service Express, and remain significant owners of the business. Additional terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Service Express provides third party, post-warranty data center maintenance services to more than 4,000 customers. Service Express has a strong value proposition as it provides services that maintain and extend the life of mission-critical data center equipment at quicker response times and a lower cost vs. post-warranty support offered by OEMs.

Verizon becomes Official 5G Innovation Partner to Snap Inc., the creator of Snapchat: Verizon and Snap Inc., the creator of Snapchat, today announced a first-of-its-kind partnership to leverage Verizon’s 5G Ultra Wideband technology to support Snap’s best-in-class augmented reality, visual communications, and content experiences. As official 5G innovation partners, the companies will work together at Verizon’s 5G Labs to create new experiences for consumers, including opportunities to experience live events in new ways through Snapchat. The partnership will also include premium sponsorship placements within Snap Originals video series. Verizon 5G Ultra Wideband’s low latency, fast speeds and high bandwidth will enable Snap’s AR innovation through cutting-edge applications. This includes Landmarker tech, which creates location-based entertainment experiences and Portal Lenses that can transport fans backstage at a concert or provide spectators unique in-stadium experiences from their seat during the game.

Mid-Atlantic Crossroads Selects Zayo for Colocation and Connectivity: Zayo Group Holdings was selected by Mid-Atlantic Crossroads to provide data center colocation in zColo’s Ashburn facility and fiber connectivity to support MAX’s network services to its academic, research, government, scientific and business communities. MAX is a center at the University of Maryland (UMD) that operates a regional advanced cyberinfrastructure platform. Zayo’s colocation solution will provide a dedicated, private suite that includes more than 30 cabinets in its Ashburn data center for the client, which is optimizing and consolidating workloads. Zayo expanded its Ashburn facility in 2018 and 2019, which now has more than 75,000 square feet and 15MW of power capacity expandable up to 40 MW. The Tier 3 equivalent facility offers extensive carrier neutral connectivity as well as access to Zayo’s global fiber network.

GRC to Provide All-in-One Immersion-Cooling Server Systems Through Collaboration with Dell: Data centers across the globe in nearly every industry are facing rising heat loads and increased density, as well as the pressure to significantly reduce energy consumption, prompting end-users to demand more agile infrastructure that utilizes liquid immersion cooling.  Additionally, with the proliferation of edge computing, operators are realizing the importance of being able to quickly deploy critical infrastructure in challenging geographic locations. The GRC all-in-one immersion cooling server system immerses select optimized Dell EMC servers in a cooling rack filled with a proprietary, nontoxic, non-conductive coolant called ElectroSafe, which provides 1200X the heat capacity of air. Heat from the servers is absorbed by the coolant and quickly removed from the rack. The result is a supremely energy-efficient data center cooling system with a cooling capacity up to 100 kW/rack.
