Registrar hits 1 million domains under management less than two years after founding.
Domain name registrar Sav has hit 1 million domains under management less than two years after its founding by domain investor Anthos Chrysanthou.
About 1/3 of the domains are .com, and the registrar is also popular with .co and .io, among other extensions.
The registrar is attracting market share primarily through low prices across all facets of the domain business: registration fees, aftermarket sales and expiry.
For example, .io domains are priced below $30 per year. New .coms are consistently $6.95, which is the lowest price I can find for unlimited .com domains in the market today.
On the aftermarket side, Sav charges only a 4% commission when you sell through its landers.
Sav charges its regular registration fees for domain backorders. It has proven successful snapping up .co domains in particular. For example, current auctions include won.co, row.co and brisk.co. The company recently started adding new registrar accreditations, so it might improve its competitiveness for .com domains as well.
