Q&A with Website Hosting Review’s Contributing Editor, Kathy Xu
Website Hosting Review recently spoke with Jaime Vargas, PowerShield Regional Account Manager, Americas, to discuss the company’s participation in Data Center World, April 3-6 in Los Angeles where it will introduce the PowerShield Controller for stand-by battery bank monitoring and management. In this Q&A we also discuss PowerShield’s growing service portfolio, how the company builds success through referrals and the greatest challenge in the data center industry.
Website Hosting Review, Kathy Xu (DCP-KX) Question: Tell our readers about your company. What do you do and what problems are you attempting to solve?
PowerShield, Jamie Vargas (Powershield-JV) Answer: We are specialists in the design, manufacture, installation and operation of advanced battery monitoring systems for organizations with critical services that rely on continuous power – services such as data centers, telecommunication organizations, utility services companies and others.
PowerShield solutions provide peace of mind to businesses that operate mission-critical systems which rely on the protection of UPS and battery banks, assisting them with the most advanced and cost-effective tools for monitoring and managing stand-by battery banks.
We use our expertise to help our clients get the most out of their existing IT investment.
DCP-KX Q: What do you attribute your company’s success to?
Powershield-JV A: The wealth of experience that our engineers bring to our customers is unparalleled – our people are definitely our biggest success factor.
Our products and services are industry-leading offerings at a price that delivers the most value to our clients. We back the quality of our products with strong local support, and we focus on the needs and success of our clients. The new business we get from referrals and word-of-mouth happens only because of the high level of service experienced by our clients.
DCP-KX Q: What do you think is the greatest challenge in the data center industry?
Powershield-JV A: UPS system failure, including UPS and batteries, remains the number one cause of unplanned data center outages, accounting for one-quarter of such events. With more advanced monitoring technologies gaining prominence, data center managers are changing the way they approach power backup and understand the health of their electricity backup systems.
DCP-KX Q: What new developments are on the horizon for your company?
Powershield-JV A: The launch of the PowerShield Controller is one of the most exciting events in our calendar this year. It is the most advanced and cost-effective tool for monitoring and managing stand-by battery banks, and is bound to get IT infrastructure management professionals excited.
DCP-KX Q: What would you like to accomplish at Data Center World?
Powershield-JV A: We’re looking forward to hearing from and interacting with the global industry leaders in the data center arena and meet with several industry partners. It is also the best event to meet with IT infrastructure professionals, share insights and find new challenges to solve together.
DCP-KX: Thank you for your time and best of luck at Data Center World.
