Officials at Microsoft stated that Microsoft Teams is now being used by more than 115 million daily active users from 75 million daily active users as of April 2020. That’s a growth of around 53.33% of the daily active users.

While its Q1 FY’21 profits call, Microsoft presented an updated number for its Teams collaboration platform. 

As of April 29, Microsoft’s Teams touched the landmark of 75 million daily active users, up from 44 million in mid-March. That’s a 41.33 % growth in daily users. The rapid growth is attributable in substantial part to so many needing to work and learn remotely as a result of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

Recently, Microsoft stated that from 2021 Minecraft will require a Microsoft account to play. You won’t be able to log in via the Mojang account.

Microsoft’s main rival Slack hasn’t offered an updated daily active user after October 2019 while it had 12 million daily, active users. Later alleging Microsoft wasn’t a rival, Slack filed in July 2020 a competition charge against Microsoft in the EU, alleging it is illegally binding Teams to Office 365.

Nearly all of Microsoft’s Teams business comes from business clients. Microsoft did declare a client-concentric Team’s features for Teams on Android and iOS, however, that’s yet in preview. Team points for customers will be possible for desktop users in the upcoming months.

Microsoft 365/Office 365 metrics given in Microsoft’s October 27 earnings, call, Office commercial products, and cloud services revenue grew nine percent year-over-year, managed by Office 365 Commercial revenue increase of 21 percent of some undisclosed number. Office Consumer products and cloud services grew by 13 percent, with Microsoft 365 Consumer subscribers presently at 45.3 million, up from 42.7 million in Q4 FY’20.
