Global fiber, colocation and cloud infrastructure provider, Zayo, has completed its long haul dark fiber route between Los Angeles and Dallas. The new long-haul dark fiber route complements Zayo’s existing long haul network, enabling diverse connectivity between major West Coast data center markets to Dallas, one of the largest data center and interconnection markets in the United States.

Zayo will offer its full range of “high-performance” connectivity solutions across the route, enabling 100G wavelengths service later this month. The new wavelengths route will be diverse from other existing carrier networks and from Zayo’s existing routes and will enable unique options between Los Angeles, San Diego, Phoenix, Tucson, El Paso, Ft. Worth and Dallas.

Zayo secured an anchor tenant and began development of the 2,000-mile route in 2015, which included upgrades and new construction. Since construction began, Zayo has secured multiple additional dark fiber and wavelengths anchor tenants on the route, supporting return on investment for the strategic project.

Zayo’s 128,200-mile dark fiber network in North America and Europe includes extensive metro connectivity to thousands of buildings and data centers. In addition to high bandwidth capacity dark fiber, wavelength, Ethernet and other connectivity solutions, Zayo offers colocation and cloud infrastructure in its carrier-neutral data centers. Zayo provides users with self-service options through Tranzact, an online platform for managing and purchasing bandwidth.
