MacStadium, a fast growing global provider of Apple Mac hosting, colocation, cloud hosting and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IAAS) solutions with currently around 20,000 dedicated servers hosted worldwide, has acquired specific assets of Atlanta-based software company, Virtual Command, including key personnel and intellectual property related to virtualization and cloud orchestration software.
Through this acquisition, MacStadium would add deep industry expertise in platform development complementing the company’s core discipline centered around the deployment of scalable private clouds built on Apple hardware. Financial terms of this deal were not disclosed.
The additional resources acquired would facilitate a faster delivery of new products, features, and functionality while introducing speed and efficiencies to deploying MacStadium services. MacStadium also expects that the acquisition will accelerate the development of customized solutions using Docker containers and Kubernetes for orchestration – to streamline iOS and Mac application development for MacStadium customers and partners.
iOS App, Mac App, and Game Developers
“As the world becomes increasingly dependent on iOS and Mac apps, evidenced by the explosive growth in Apple’s App Store, we see an opportunity to build new product offerings that integrate with and extend popular DevOps tools,” said Gregory McGraw, CEO of MacStadium. “With this acquisition, we’re well positioned to accelerate the expansion of our platform by software enabling our unique infrastructure solutions for a wider set of iOS app, Mac app, and game developers around the world. I’m confident that Chris Chapman, Virtual Command’s CTO and co-founder, and his team will help developers in the Apple ecosystem address their growing need for scalable CI and testing infrastructure built on Apple hardware.”
A Summit Partners portfolio company, MacStadium, is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, with growing operations in Las Vegas, Silicon Valley, Dublin, Ireland, and Frankfurt, Germany.
In the following VIDEO published on Website Hosting Review last week by zColo, Gregory McGraw explains what kind of customers are hosting their software on Apple hardware and what the partnership with zColo by Zayo means for MacStadium’s operations and expansion plans.
