Frame.io acquisition by Adobe changes target buyer for the .com
Adobe has acquired Frame, operating from the domain Frame.io; the venture-backed company fell into the lap of Adobe for the sum of $1.275 billion dollars.
While the feat is remarkable it most likely signifies a future “end of the road” for the video collaboration solution provider. Adobe is known for acquiring and absorbing companies and technologies, eventually rolling these tools under its own brand.
Which means that the .io operators are in no immediate need of acquiring the matching .com domain, Frame.com.
Registered in 2000, presumably after a drop, Frame.com is in the possession of NY based Frame.com LLC. The domain has been parked since at least 2007 and its lander indicates that the domain is available to acquire.
Who would be the next potential buyer other than Frame.io?
Most likely FRAME, a fashion outlet operating from the domain Frame-Store.com. According to their web site:
FRAME is an American fashion brand founded by Jens Grede and Erik Torstensson, renowned for its collections in denim, cotton, leather, and cashmere. Since the brand’s inception in 2012 in Los Angeles, CA, FRAME has evolved from making hand-crafted denim to offering ready-to-wear staples in the finest natural materials.
We’ll have to wait and see if any domain brokers jump in the cold call game for Frame.com. Incidentally, the same registrant owns Frame.net.
