Fun domain story I’ve probably told before–but not on here.
It’s December 2020, and I had a good year with building out sites. I ended the year with a little extra money in my bank account.
Did I save this money? Invest in BTC?
I was wasting time one night and decided to see if the exact match domain of my favorite band Spiritbox (at the time using SpiritboxBand.com) was up to.
It was for sale @ SEDO for $2800. Hmm. I thought about it for a few weeks and decided fuck it, I’m gonna buy it.
So I bought it and reached out to them via their Patreon (which I was obviously a member of).
I told them during the monthly live-chat they did with fans that I acquired their exact domain name, and I wanted to gift it to them, no strings.
I just thought it was a cool way to give back to my favorite band, to be a part of their journey, even if it was just a super small, inconsequential part. Now whenever I see them email me from @spiritbox.com, it makes me happy.
That’s it. That’s the story. Using domains for something other than a build out or to try and sale.
Here is a live studio performance of “Blessed Be” by Spiritbox. Check it out and fall in love with this amazing band.
Park.io Names at Auction
504.io – Nice three-letter .io. Also, 504 has a meaning in the education space:
A 504 plan is a blueprint for how the school will support a student with a disability and remove barriers to learning. The goal is to give the student equal access at school.
Clarissa.co – A good brand for explaining things…
Standoff.gg – Solid brand for a gaming-related term. Park.io says it gets some traffic, I think? Not really sure what that means…
Namejet, Sedo, and Catched.com Names at Auction
CoSpace.io – Covid Space. Just kidding, probably more useful for something related to co-working spaces… eventually.
VASO.io – Four letter .io. What does it mean?! How about… Venus Appreciation Space Organization
Ascend.fi – Ugh, sorry to everyone trying to quietly bid on this one… too good not to share. I think .fi is gaining some acceptance in the crypto or web3 or whatever buzzword of the day we’re calling it. And ascend… well, damn if that ain’t a great SLD. I don’t hold any .fi personally, but if I was gonna… it’d be this one, probably.
Hey, if you love two letters in your various domain names, check out the SEDO 2-letter auction that’s ending REAL SOON. I’ve picked out my favorite two below, but you should go look at the full list for yourself…
mr.fitness – Like Mr. Plow, but for fitness.
pp.org – not the world’s best double-letter combo, but… two-letter .org, pretty valuable.
61.org – Two number .org: also pretty valuable.
SolarFarming.com – The sun produces 3.8×10^26 joules of energy per second. This is energy that the sun will never get back–and that’s just in ONE SECOND of time. Imagine what this number is in a year. That’s why we practice Solar Farming, to harvest the energy of the Earth and give it back to the sun.
MyGenealogy.com – It’s a solid name for genealogy related business, but damn, it is a hard word to spell!
How it’s spellt: jen·ee·lah·oh·jee. How it’s pronounced: jee·nee·aa·luh·jee.
CurryKing.com – There’s gotta be at least one in every major city and THEY’RE ALL COMPLETELY UNINTERESTED IN BUYING THIS NAME FROM YOU.
CryptoSwap.net – buzzword
QuickNFT.com – buzzword
