These three monthly reports might give you ideas on what’s hot in the domain market.
Each month, some domain marketplaces and registries publish data to summarize activity during the previous month. Let’s look at three of these reports to figure out what’s trending in domain names.
First, let’s take a look at the top ten most searched terms at Sedo:
1. pics
2. nft
3. link
4. keyword
5. lawyer
6. loan
7. mom
8. gaming
9. innovation
10. seo
Pics at #1? I’m a bit perplexed by this list. I wonder if one or two people searching for names for their businesses can sway this list.
Now, let’s hop over to the Donuts Domain Trend Report for March. The most registered words in SLDs were:
1. Today
2. Meta
3. Online
4. Home
5. Club
6. Digital
7. Life
8. Letter
9. First
10. World
Most of this list makes sense. You’ll note that many of these SLDs match existing TLDs. This is no surprise because many TLDs were chosen because they matched common SLD keywords.
.Global and .Group accounted for most of the top Premium sales last month, led by dubai.global and cb.group.
Our last stop is the XYZ Registry Domains Report for March.
The registry reported that its five highest premium sales were 3d.xyz, 5.xyz, me.xyz, o.xyz, and sky.xyz. These each have an MSRP of $13,000 per year, and I believe their wholesale costs are $10,000 per year. Beyond .xyz, some of its premium registrations included insurance.autos, miami.baby, and 18 .beauty.
XYZ reported plenty of aftermarket transactions as well, such as capital.xyz for $105,000.
