CAPRE’s Data Center Round Up for September 13, 2019
Check out the latest in deals, development and disruptive technology in the data center industry for September 13, 2019:

  • Colovore Announces 50 kW and Liquid-To-The-System Capabilities: Colovore, the high-density colocation specialist in Silicon Valley, announced that it has continued to enhance its power density capacities with support of 50 kW cabinets as well as liquid-to-the-system deployments. In Phases 3 and 4 of its Santa Clara data center, Colovore built to support 35 kW of power and cooling in every cabinet utilizing passive rear-door heat exchangers; it will now offer 50 kW capacities via active rear doors (which incorporate fans). It plans to deliver Phase 4, another 2 MW of critical capacity, built to this 50 kW spec. It also announced that it has live customers utilizing liquid-to-the-system cooling systems for next-generation computing platforms, and will expand these offerings given strong demand in the Silicon Valley data center marketplace.
  • Iron Mountain Delivers Four Megawatts of New Turn-Key Data Center Capacity in Europe: Iron Mountain has completed development of nearly four megawatts of turn-key data center capacity in Amsterdam and London, adding 1.9 megawatts to both AMS-1 and LON-1, further strengthening Iron Mountain’s data center platform in Europe. Including the land acquired in Frankfurt in early 2019, Iron Mountain has a growing presence in three of the top four European data center markets, supporting strong demand from both global and local customers. Strategically located in the heart of Amsterdam, one of the world’s largest network ecosystems, Iron Mountain’s AMS-1 data center now has nearly 13 megawatts of capacity, with the ability to expand its campus footprint by more than 20 incremental megawatts. The expansion in Amsterdam includes the opening of a seventh data center hall in the AMS-1 facility, adding 1.9 megawatts of capacity, of which more than 50% was pre-leased, reflecting strong demand from both new and existing data center customers.
  • Supermicro Expands High-Performance SuperWorkstation System Portfolio: Super Micro Computer, a global leader in enterprise computing, storage, networking solutions, and green computing technology, added a new server-grade high-end workstation to its broad portfolio of fully configurable SuperWorkstation systems. The SYS-5049A-T joins a robust range of solutions supporting dynamic computational workloads for demanding requirements found in scientific research, deep learning (DL), artificial intelligence (AI), augmented reality (AR), and 3-D modeling with real-time simulation. Supermicro’s SuperWorkstations are optimized for applications requiring powerful computational or graphics capabilities including rendering, image processing, and engineering tasks. With nearly 20 individual SuperWorkstations, systems have either single- or dual-processor platforms, robust memory capacity – up to 4 DDR4-2933MHz memory in 12 DIMM slots, 7 PCI-E 3.0 slots for GPU/Coprocessor, dual Gigabit Ethernet LAN port, and single 10 Gigabit LAN port. The SuperWorkstation systems also include 7.1 HD audio, up to 8 USB ports, and 205W CPU support for applications demanding high core counts.
  • Equinix Recognized by EPA for Leading Green Power Use:  Equinix has received a 2019 Green Power Leadership Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). EPA’s annual Green Power Leadership Awards recognize America’s leading green power users for their commitment and contribution to helping advance the development of the nation’s voluntary green power market. EPA presented Equinix with an award for Direct Project Engagement at the 2019 Renewable Energy Markets Conference in San Diego, Calif. on September 5, 2019. Equinix was one of only seven organizations nationwide to receive a Leadership Award for direct project engagement. Equinix was recognized for its procurement of electricity from renewable energy sources in all three regions of the world, and specifically direct project engagement with its long-term agreements to purchase 225 MW of wind power from the Wake, Texas, and Rush Springs, Oklahoma, wind farms.
  • CyrusOne Selected by Data Canopy to Expand Their Data Center Capabilities in the United States: CyrusOne has announced an agreement with Data Canopy to expand their data center network to now include Cincinnati, Ohio; Dallas, Texas; Raleigh, North Carolina and Santa Clara, California upon its completion. Data Canopy is a hybrid infrastructure provider, reducing the cost and complexity of hybrid and multi-cloud environments by connecting, storing, and securing physical and virtual infrastructure.
