International Hosting Company WorldStream Achieves PCI DSS Certification

Filmed Entertainment Giant Lionsgate Expands IaaS Hosting Services with INAP 6
WorldStream, an international IaaS hosting provider experiencing more than 40% year-over-year growth for 5 years in a row now, has announced its achievement of compliance with the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard (DSS) version 3.2. Designed to minimize the exposure of credit card data to risk of fraud or compromise, the PCI DSS certification being achieved is important for WorldStream to have as their webshop hosting clients are asking for payment security level guarantees. The 3rd party audited PCI DSS certification was issued by IT audit company Noordbeek B.V.

With more than 15,000 dedicated servers installed in its company-owned data centers in Naaldwijk, the Netherlands, WorldStream serves customers globally with clients including cloud service providers (CSPs), broadcasters, systems integrators, independent software vendors (ISVs), Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) providers and ecommerce hosting clients. The successful completion of the PCI DSS audits and obtaining the certificate is adding to the other certifications already achieved by WorldStream including ISO 9001:2015, and ISO/IEC 27001:2015 for information security management, as well as ISO 14001:2015 – specifying the requirements for WorldStream’s environmental management system and sustainable operations.

“The IT audit firm has checked and validated all relevant PCI DSS related processes within the WorldStream organization as well as the management and operating controls that are in place,” said Lennert Vollebregt, CEO and co-owner of WorldStream. “Complying with the PCI DSS directives is important for us, as WorldStream is serving quite some merchants and also managed hosting providers with webshop operators among their clients. The fact that WorldStream fully meets the rigorous PCI DSS requirements gives our ecommerce customers piece of mind with regard to the secure handling and storing of credit card information and payment data.”

WorldStream

Global Network: 10Gbps

The PCI DSS certificate validates WorldStream’s physical security measures in their offices and two company-owned data centers in Naaldwijk, the Netherlands. Next to that it also validates WorldStream’s documentation of organizational processes and IT system management for example, as well as the way the company manages its suppliers and guaranteeing its business continuity. To learn more about all 12 primary requirements mandated by the PCI DSS standard, visit: https://www.pcisecuritystandards.org/.

WorldStream’s global network backbone with ample bandwidth available, currently more than 10Gbps, is working like a magnet on ecommerce hosting customers and managed service providers (MSPs) dealing with ecommerce hosting clients, stated the WorldStream CEO. “Online merchants normally have demanding requirements when it comes to their ecommerce hosting environments,” added Mr. Vollebregt. “Especially during holiday season when webshops are experiencing traffic spikes it becomes obvious that the network speed, as well as the latency and availability can make or break online businesses. The main components for an efficient and effective ecommerce hosting infrastructure include the scalability of available bandwidth, the speed of the network backbone, as well as the network’s security levels and ability to mitigate DDoS (Distributed Denial-of-Service) attacks. We have invested more than 3 million euros in this global network backbone recently, which is paying off for ecommerce hosting clients as it provides them with business continuity guarantees.”

20,000 Servers

The announcement follows the news of WorldStream revealing its plans to further build-out its flagship data center in Naaldwijk, the Netherlands. Within the course of a year WorldStream will be doubling its facility capacity from 268 data center racks to 536 racks at this location. To support ecommerce hosting customers and other demanding clients with maximum uptime guarantees, WorldStream has chosen a highly redundant and energy-efficient design for its data center with an N+2 setup. The expanded facility will also be equipped with a fully modular UPS system to facilitate hot-swappable maintenance and avoiding any downtime.

This 2nd phase expansion in WorldStream’s flagship data center allows the hosting company to further grow its dedicated server capacity in its data centers to 20,000 servers, but WorldStream is already eying another greenfield data center build nearby.

About WorldStream

Founded in 2006, WorldStream is headquartered in Naaldwijk, the Netherlands. With currently more than 15,000 dedicated servers installed in data centers, WorldStream is a security-focused Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) hosting provider delivering highly customizable dedicated servers as well as colocation services and denial-of-service (DDoS) mitigation to customers worldwide. Its customer base includes cloud service providers (CSPs), managed service providers (MSPs), systems integrators (SIs), broadcasters, Internet service providers (ISPs), independent software vendors (ISVs), SMBs and enterprise companies.

WorldStream owns a global network with a total capacity of currently 10Tbit/s, with a maximum network utilization of 50 percent to provide customers with high-scalability options and the ability to easily mitigate the impact of distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks. WorldStream servers are housed in data centers of WorldStream’s sister company Greenhouse Datacenters, who operates two highly energy-efficient data centers in Naaldwijk, the Netherlands.

Global IaaS Hosting Provider Leaseweb Sponsors Airshow in Manassas, VA

Filmed Entertainment Giant Lionsgate Expands IaaS Hosting Services with INAP 9
Leaseweb Manassas AirshowLeaseweb, one of the largest providers of Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) hosting solutions with more than 80,000 dedicated servers under management and a broad portfolio of cloud hosting solutions available, will be sponsoring the annual Manassas Airshow again – on May 4, 2019. The airshow will take place at the Manassas Regional Airport.

It is the third year in a row that Leaseweb is sponsoring this airshow in the state of Virginia where one of their US data centers is located. Last year, Leaseweb sponsored an airshow that took place at Texel island in the Netherlands, an event that was joined by HostingJounalist.com editor-in-chief Koen Stegeman.

Aviation is actually in Leaseweb’s DNA, as the company’s founders Con Zwinkels and Laurens Rosenthal used to be airline pilots when they started the company. Leaseweb also has its own aerobatics plane which is used to take customers and partners ‘to the cloud.’ Half a year ago, our editor-in-chief took the opportunity to enjoy a flight at this aerobatics plane.

Leaseweb Lex Boost
“When pilots are flying, there is no room for error,” said Lex Boost, CEO of Leaseweb USA.

The airshow in Manassas will feature aerial demonstrations by the U.S. Air Force, The Flying Circus Wingwalkers, 3rd Dimension Parachute Team and more.

“When pilots are flying, there is no room for error,” said Lex Boost, CEO of Leaseweb USA. “They have to have a laser focus and unwavering attention to precision in order to avoid the slightest slip up that could be catastrophic. At Leaseweb, we strive to offer the same expertise and approach to our customers which is why we’re excited to sponsor this show each year and feel right at home at the airfield. We are inspired by the pilots and hope to duplicate their attention to their craft and their mission of connecting people.”

The afternoon in Manassas will be filled with fun and entertainment for families from all around the Northern Virginia area. It also highlights the history of Leaseweb and it’s co-founders Con Zwinkels and Laurens Rosenthal.

“Working with Leaseweb as a partner over the years has ensured that the airshow is able to continue to give back to the community year after year,” said Kevin Rychlik, Manassas Airshow co-chairman. “They really understand the pilot’s mentality and are eager to share and learn from people in all facets of the aviation industry. Personally, I find it inspiring to spend time with all the amazing pilots and volunteers that join us each year and I know the Leaseweb team does, too.”
