David Shepard has 20+ years of experience growing and managing large enterprise customers and building “successful” sales and marketing teams. His duties at Giga Data Centers include overseeing the sales, marketing, and partner channel teams – to execute the company’s strategy and achieve its revenue goals. Shepard reports to CEO Jake Ring as the newest member of Giga Data Centers’ executive team.
“David is an experienced sales leader with a proven track record for growing revenue as well as building and coaching global data center teams,” said Jake Ring, CEO of Giga Data Centers. “Among many qualified candidates, David stood out as the ideal person to help lead GIGA through our next stage of growth. We are very pleased and excited he has joined our team.”
Previously, Shepard was Senior Vice President Sales and Marketing for Fortrust (now Iron Mountain) where he built a team “that doubled data center capacity and customers in less than 18 months.”
Prior to Fortrust, Shepard held multiple executive positions at IO Data Centers where he was integral in expanding the company’s footprint from a single data center in Scottsdale Arizona with less than 10 customers to over 2 million square feet, 200 Megawatts of power capacity and over 500 customers in the U.S., UK, and Singapore.
“I’m excited to be joining Giga Data Centers to help accelerate the growth of the company,” said David Shepard, the company’s new CRO. “The company has an amazing team and superior colocation capabilities, both of which will deliver incredible value to our customers. From the outset, I was attracted to Giga Data Centers’ strong vision in the data center services market, and I am looking forward to helping it further scale the business.”
Opening New Data Center Charlotte
Giga Data Centers will officially open its CLT-1 Data Center in Mooresville, NC (near Charlotte) with a grand opening event on Friday June 21, 2019 that will include facility tours and a ribbon cutting ceremony.
“Giga Data Centers’ new facility is an efficiency milestone for the colocation industry that places world-class hosting and carrier-neutral services in an ideal location to offer a lower-priced option over more costly data center fees charged in other markets,” added CEO Jake Ring.
The new data center would leverage a highly energy-efficient modular design first used by the U.S. Department of Energy. This innovation is GIGA’s WindChill Enclosure system that provides hot/cold aisle isolation and adiabatic cooling to lower data center OPEX.
CLT-1 is a 165,800 square foot data center with 120,000 square feet occupying the main data hall. The Tier-3 compliant facility is a complete departure from traditional raised-floor construction and supports power and cooling from 7kW to 50kW per 52U rack, at a guaranteed Power Use Efficiency (PUE) rating of
