  • Green Mountain Builds New Colocation Data Centre in Oslo Region: Green Mountain has announces that construction has started on its new colocation campus at Enebakk outside Oslo, the capital of Norway. This will be Green Mountain’s third data center, in addition to its underground facility outside Stavanger and the facility at Rjukan, Telemark. The site is approximately 20 km from downtown Oslo and is perfectly situated in terms of power supply, infrastructure and connectivity. In the last 12 months, Green Mountain has invested close to 400 million NOK in expansions at the Stavanger and Rjukan sites and now an additional 420 million NOK site investment is a reality. Gyland is highly confident in the growth of the data center industry in Norway. Establishing a presence in Oslo gives Green Mountain greater opportunities for growth. The proximity to diverse fiber routes to Europe and the US are often decisive factors for international clients, in addition to the sustainability aspect of course.

  • Palo Alto Networks Announces Intent to Acquire Zingbox: Palo Alto Networks will acquire Zingbox, an IoT security company, for a total purchase price of $75 million, subject to adjustment, to be paid in cash. The proposed acquisition is expected to close during Palo Alto Networks fiscal first quarter of 2020, subject to the satisfaction of customary closing conditions. The number of connected devices in enterprises is growing exponentially, yet most of these devices are unmanaged and pose a security risk. Current IoT point products mostly focus on device profiling and inventory, not on detecting or stopping sophisticated attacks. Organizations are forced to integrate multiple IoT security products across different vendors, introducing complexity, higher cost, and manual effort. Zingbox’s cloud-based service and advanced AI and machine learning technology for device and threat identification capabilities will accelerate Palo Alto Networks delivery of IoT security through its Next-Generation Firewall and Cortex platforms.
  • Commvault Acquires Hedvig to Accelerate its Strategic Vision: Commvault, a leading provider of software for the management of data across cloud and on-premises environments, today announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire software-defined storage (SDS) innovator, Hedvig, for total consideration of $225 million, which includes the purchase price and ongoing employee retention. “This acquisition demonstrates how Commvault is leading the way towards the intersection of storage and data management,” said Sanjay Mirchandani, Commvault CEO. “We believe joining Hedvig’s innovative software-defined storage capabilities with Commvault’s industry leading data protection reduces fragmentation and leapfrogs other solutions in the market.” For years, Commvault has evolved its portfolio to help thousands of long-standing customers of all sizes globally protect, manage and use their data more effectively.
