- Pensando Emerges From Stealth With Up To $145 Million Series C Funding To Drive Democratization Of The Cloud: Pensando Systems, the company pioneering the new edge services model of enterprise and cloud computing, today announced that Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Lightspeed Venture Partners led a Series C round to raise up to $145 Million USD in funding. This will bring the total amount raised to $278 million after an earlier founder-led series A round of $71 Million USD,and a customer-led series B round of $62 Million USD. The company will use the new funding to accelerate engineering, operations, and go-to-market activities. Pensando also announced that Mark Potter, Chief Technology Officer of Hewlett Packard Enterprise, and Barry Eggers, a partner of Lightspeed Venture Partners, joined the board of directors, with John Chambers, CEO of JC2 Ventures, leading as chairman.
- Equinix Appoints Michael Montoya as Chief Information Security Officer: Equinix has broadcast the appointment of Michael Montoya as Chief Information Security Officer, further bolstering the company’s commitment to security. In this role, Montoya is responsible for leading Equinix’s global cybersecurity risk program. His responsibilities will include evolving the company’s information security program and defining the company’s future cybersecurity roadmap, enterprise risk management and compliance programs. Montoya will work closely with Equinix’s product development, Operations, IT, compliance and business continuity teams to help ensure the company has a world-class approach to securing its global assets as well as providing the most secure environment for customers.
- Schneider Electric and NetApp Collaborate to Revolutionize Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure: Schneider Electric, the leader in digital transformation of energy management and automation, today announced its collaboration with NetApp to deliver the pre-validated Optimized Edge for NetApp HCI solution, which is built on NetApp’s hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) platform and designed for enterprise, remote/branch offices, and small- to medium-sized business (SMB) spaces. Optimized Edge for NetApp HCI combines edge computing infrastructure with an open and scalable on-premise hybrid cloud infrastructure to revolutionize the private cloud into a deployable region of customers’ multi-cloud. The solution is a compatible physical infrastructure solution that is integrated, pre-engineered, and pre-validated to help organizations of all sizes reduce deployment time, accelerate time to market, and minimize on-site and remote management.
- CoreSite Publishes 2018 Corporate Sustainability Report: CoreSite Realty Corporation has published its “2018 Corporate Sustainability Report – Another year into our journey.” The document chronicles how CoreSite seeks the least carbon-intensive generation sources consistent with its customers’ economic goals and options permitted in its markets. As part of that objective, CoreSite’s 2018 accomplishments included completing a chiller project for more than 9,800 MW of energy savings achieved in 2018 at its LA2 data center and being awarded nearly $3 million by the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power for this project and its savings; achieving “Seven 9s” of reliability across its platform of data center facilities, resulting in high customer satisfaction, and improving its 2018 Power Utilization Effectiveness by about 7% on a same-store basis compared to 2017. CoreSite also continues to shape its culture by empowering its employees and valuing their diversity and leadership, which ultimately drives the Company’s success and that of our stakeholders. Women represented 41% of CoreSite’s headquarters workforce and 20% of its Board of Directors, while minorities and veterans represented 42.3% and 14.5%, respectively, of its total workforce.
- Stream Data Centers Wins at the Global Women in Telco and Tech Awards 2019: Stream is proud to announce that it has won the Best Data Center Company at Capacity Media’s first ever Global Women in Telco and Tech Awards. As an inaugural awards ceremony, the event organizers wanted to draw attention to the vital work being done by members of the industry in the area of gender parity. Earlier in the day, key global players gathered at the corresponding Summit to talk about recruitment initiatives, mentorship programs, training and development and other ways in which they are encouraging more women to join the global sector. In the evening, they gathered to award each other’s efforts and collectively encourage the wider industry to do more.
